Complete Campfire Ban in Metchosin

A reminder that on July 7, 2017 the Coastal Fire Centre implemented a complete campfire prohibition in all areas of the Coastal Fire Centre (which includes all Provincial Campsites).

The District of Metchosin is following the same restrictions – all campfires are prohibited within the municipal boundaries.

This prohibition is due to increased hot and dry conditions with no precipitation in the immediate forecast and the increased number of human-caused fires.  This prohibition will remain in effect until October 1, 2017, or until the public is otherwise notified.

Please note:

  • Beach Fires are no longer allowed at any beach within the District of Metchosin.
  • All outdoor fires, Incinerators, open yard burning and land clearing burns, fireworks, chimineas and  tiki torches are all prohibited
  • Propane fire pits, briquettes and gas BBQ’s are still permitted at this time.

Please contact the Metchosin Fire Department at 250-478-1307 for further information.
